A hat trick of hat tricks for U14 girls

Published: Sunday, 01 December 2019 12:02

Wexford Schoolgirls League Under Fourteen

Fastnet Rovers   0  Tombrack United  12

The Under Fourteen girls made the long journey to Rathangan to take on Fastnet Rovers and ran out comfortable 12-0 winners to make it four wins from four and move to the top of the table. Hat tricks from Anna Draguan, Emer Roche and Anna Tompkins as well as goals from Megan Hayes, Eabha Guinan and Allie Byrne saw Tombrack control the game although Rovers were better than the scoreline suggests. This win moves the girls three points clear at the top of the table, just ahead of Coolboy who have a game in hand

U13 Boys just lose out to Taghmon

Wexford Schoolboys Under Thirteen

Taghmon United  3  Tombrack United  2

In an exciting entertaining encounter, our Under Thirteen boys were unlucky to just lose out to Taghmon by the odd goal in five and the lads will feel they deserved more from this game. Rian Buttle scored both Tombrack goals in an overall strong team performance with both sides creating several chances but the home side did enough to sneak the the three points

Men bow out of LFA Junior Cup in Rathdrum

O Neills LFA Junior Cup Second Round

Avonmore FC         4        Tombrack United       1

A poor first half performance saw our men exit the LFA Junior Cup, losing 4-1 to a strong physical Avonmore side in Rathdrum on Sunday morning. The home side have started their league campaign well in Wicklow and are currently unbeaten and for the first forty five minutes, Tombrack did not come close to their recent run of good form and goals in the 10th, 18th and 33rd minutes saw the lads trail 3-0 at half time. The small pitch did not help but the home side were more up for the game and when they scored three minutes into the second half, the game was over as far as we were concerned. Ironically, this is when we played some of our better football and began to create more chances as Willie Maher made changes in an effort to get his team back into the game. John Coleman went close when his long range swerving effort hit the crossbar and five minutes from time he scored with a well placed shot after some good work from his brother James put him through. Tombrack could have had the final say when Harry Fitzgibbon was unlucky not to get the final touch in a race to the ball with the keeper. It’s back to league action for the lads next week with an away game in New Ross Town and hopefully a return to winning form

Under 13 boys lose out to Cushinstown

Schoolboys Under Thirteen

Tombrack United    0   Cushinstown AFC   6

The Under Thirteen boys came up against a strong Cushinstown side and while the scoreline did not reflect the game itself, the visitors were deserving winners. Our lads did create some chances but could not break down a well organised visitors defence
