Friday August 28th
Wexford Schoolgirls Under Fourteen Division Two B
Corach Ramblers 2 Tombrack United 4
Our Under Fourteen girls made the long journey to Carrig On Bannow on Friday evening needing a point to secure the league title but taking on a home side who still had title ambitions of their own. A nervous start saw Tombrack concede after just three minutes when Corach broke away to score a well taken goal but the girls showed great character and worked hard for an equaliser and were rewarded just before half time when Ali Byrne scored to bring the sides level. The early stages of the second half belonged to Tombrack and a suberb solo effort from Eabha Guinan put the girls ahead and when Ana Dragusin made it 3-1, it looked as if the title was safe and secure. Corach showed their fighting spirit at this stage and a long range effort midway through the half found the net after Tombrack had failed to clear the ball safely. Tombrack continue to press forward and five minutes from time Ciara Kenny scored to insure the three points and the a well deserved title
Congratulations to Pat and Will on a great season, only beaten once, working off a small squad but producing the big performances when needed to run out well deserved champions. Congratulations to all the players who put in a fantastic effort all season winning eleven of their twelve games in one of the leagues most competitive divisions where Coolboy and Corach were in contention right up to the end, well done to all.
