Wexford Football League Division Five
Glynn Barntown 4 Tombrack United 2
Tombrack second team completed their 2019-20 season with a defeat in Mayglass against a Glynn Barntown team who got promoted courtesy of this win but can count themselves fortunate to have taken all three points against a hard working Tombrack side who had no subs, a problem that proved costly in the end. The lads started well and were matching the home side for the opening twenty minutes and went ahead when Eoghan Murphy was taken down in the box and Kevin Kenny converted the resultant penalty. The home side worked hard to get back into the game and were rewaarded on thirty two minues when a good movement allowed them space in the area to slot past Evan Murphy in the goal. Five minutes later a through ball from Eoghan Murphy put Rashid through on goal and the youngest player on the pitch kept a calm head to lob the ball over the advancing keeper and six minutes later, Eoghan himself lobbed the keeper just to see the ball hit the post.
Two quick goals midway through the second half saw the home side go 3-2 ahead but Tombrack were unlucky not to level as James Kavanagh, Conor Byrne and Daniel Vickers all went close. Another goal near the end gave Glynn Barntown the three points they needed to get promoted but as this squad prepares for the new season, all three games have shown their potential as their end of season run in saw them play the teams that came first, third and fourth
Best for Tombrack in this game were Aaron Dobbs, James Kavanagh and Conor Byrne but it was overall a strong team performance with all eleven contributing
