Carlow Over Thirty Five League

Tombrack United  0  Parkville United  6

Our Over 35 side opened their campaign with a tough home game against a slick Parkville side who scored early and enjoyed most of the possession for the seventy minutes. Tombrack were missing some regulars but the eleven players who were on the pitch worked hard and battled to the end, conceding three goals in each half. The clubs original goalkeeper, Kevin Davitt, made his debut at veteran level and can be quite happy with his performance overall while David Owens also made a return but all found it difficult against a visiting side who did not look to have a player over forty and were full of running off the ball which caused problems for our lads. The home side almost had the final say in a game where they had to defend strongly when Liam Doyle's free kick brought a good save from the Parkville keeper. There will be a few sore legs tomorrow but while the result did not go the way of Tombrack, the character of this team can never be faulted
