Wexford Schoolgirls League Premier Division

All Blacks  3  Tombrack United  2

Our Under Eleven schoolgirls completed their season with a strong display away to All Blacks but unfortunately ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline. Goals from Eimear Roche and Megan Hayes had Tombrack 2-0 up but some good play and hard work from the home side saw them work their way back into the game and eventually did enough to snatch all three points. This was a big season for our girls as it was their first in the Premier division and although they ended up the season on no points, they were competitive in all their games and manager Angela Tomkins can be proud of her team and they can now begin preparations for the new season which will kick off in late February. Well done to everyone who worked with this squad and of course, to the players themselves

Wexford Schoolboys League Under Fourteen Division Two A

Tombrack United  2  Forth Celtic B  7

This game was much closer than the scoreline would lead you to believe but in the end, Forth Celtic left Ballyboy with a comfortable three points. Ryan Hayes gave Tombrack the lead and although Celtic hit back quickly to lead 3-1, Tombrack continued to battle and pulled one back through Luke Regan, before having a goal disallowed for a tackle on the visitors keeper. As Tombrack pushed for the equaliser, Forth broke away to go 4-2 in front and knocked in another three for a deceivingly comfortable 7-2 win

Leinster Junior Cup Second Round

Trinity Donaghmede  5  Tombrack United  1

An understrength Tombrack side travelled to Donaghmede to take on the home side in the second round of the Leinster Junior Cup and for the opening period of the game, Tombrack were well in contention with the Leinster Senior League side. Trinity opened the scoring after just two minutes but Tombrack dug deep and pulled one back on twenty minutes through Kevin Kenny but with ten minutes to go to half time, the home side went back in front again. The lack of numbers proved costly for Tombrack in the second half and the home side used this to their advantage as they scored three more without reply to book their place in the last thirty two of the competition

Wexford Football League Division Four A

Tombrack United  2  Caim United  1

Our men's second team produced one of their best displays of the season so far as they put their recent bad form behind them to overcome promotion challengers Caim United by the odd goal in three. Tombrack controlled the early part of the first half but as often happens in football, they found themselves one behind when Caim scored from a free kick on fifteen minutes. Both Harry Fitzgibbon and William Dunne but went close to scoring but Caim defended well while Neil Fitzpatrick was working hard in the Tombrack defence. The second half saw Caim become more dominant but Tombrack battled well and were rewarded when Josh McMullen capitalised on a defensive error and used his speed to nip in between two defenders to slot the ball to the corner of the net. With fifteen minutes to go, Harry Fitzgibbon put a through ball into th path of James Kavanagh and he made no mistake as he fired the ball low to the corner of the net. Caim came (always wanted to say that) in search of an equaliser but the Tombrack defence worked extremely hard to keep them at bay and hang on for a vital three points. Well done to everyone involved
