Saturday September 22nd

Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Premier Division

Tombrack United  1  Bunclody AFC  0

These two sides have played out some cracking games in recent years and this one was no exception as a moderately understrength home side did enough to take a vital three points against a hard working Bunclody side. Both sides were evenly matched in the opening exchanges but it was Tombrack who created the chances and on the twenty minute mark, Lucy Kemple shot to the net to give them a deserved lead. Bunclody worked tirelessly to get back on level terms but found the home defence difficult to break down as they were restricted to chances from long range which were comfortably dealt with. Midway through the second half, the girls were reduced to nine when Amy Tobin Cosgrave had to come off injured but Tombrack showed great character as they worked extremely hard to hold on to their lead and at the end, take a well earned three points with Shauna McGovern putting in a tremendous player of the match performance

Under Twelve Schoolgirls Division Two A

Tombrack United  6  Shelburne United  0

Our Under Twelve girls kicked off their season with a win as they overcame Shelburne in a game where the scoreline did not do justice to the hard work of the visitors. Three goals in each half saw Tombrack well in control as they put in an overall strong team performance, defence and keeper keeping Shelburne at bay while the midfield and forwards created several chances for the home side. Ana Dragusan scored four while Anna Tompkins and Ciara Kenny were also on target for the girls

Under Nine Schoolgirls

Our youngest schoolgirls team played an exciting fast paced encounter against an equally matched St Josephs side. The five Tombrack girls can be proud of their performance on the day and if any other young girls would like to join the clubs most exciting young team, contact manager Angela Tomkins or any committee member. Players who took to the field on this wet Saturday morning were Kate Tomkins, Riona Byrne, Nessa Byrne, Rachel McCrea and Ella Murphy
